Box Clever
Hailing from the same neck of the woods as MJ Cole, Box Clever has been making records since the tender age of 18. The early part of his life was spent honing his keyboard skills by playing in several live bands including “Stickywicket” and “Slim Jim and the Octave Doctors” who performed across the globe with varying degrees of success. Following on from a freak accident with a large piano and a set of golf clubs, he turned his hand to the studio and started making records. His first releases included the hugely successful “Talk To Me” and “Treat Me Right” on the Prolific label.
His style draws upon the influences of his studio mentor, MJ Cole, but takes it in a more housey, Rhodes-led direction. Mr Clever has featured heavily in the output of the reformed Prolific Recordings, remixing “Never Say Never” and then going on to work with Sara Garvey with her club hit “Questions”. The future is looking bright and rosey for the young Box with current projects including “The Box Symphony” and a series of sound effects for a new childrens’ TV series. The future is bright, the future is Prolific.
